MITC Clinicians Featured in “Artists in Crisis” Book

A number of our MITC clinicians contributed chapters to a new book, Artists in Crisis: Rethinking the Mental Health Challenges of Creative and Performing Artists, by MITC very own Dr. Susan Raeburn, as well as Eric Maisel, and Arnoldo Cantu. The book explores:

  • The lived realities of artists
  • The pressures of creative work
  • The influence of personality
  • How psychiatry is responding – and how it needs to change

Featured MITC clinicians’ contributions include:

A standout chapter, “The Culture of Fame: The Promise and The Problem,” was written in collaboration between Dr. Susan Raeburn, Tamsin Embleton, Dr. David Giles, and Radiohead’s Philip Selway. Selway was generous to share his personal experiences while preparing for the band’s latest European tour to provide true insight from an artist’s perspective.
