K. Toi Washington-Simon, proprietor of Together with Toi, LLC, is a New Jersey Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and Marriage Officiant.

During the course of her career, Toi has worked in the music industry but pivoted, making a decision to work with individuals faced with threats to their mental health and well-being. This career change resulted in her working as a Supervisor and Correctional Counselor at multiple facilities on Rikers Island, an Employee Assistance Professional,  a Senior Primary Therapist in a Psychiatric Emergency Screening Services Center, a School Counselor, and an Academic Advisor for student-athletes at a Division I University.

In her role as a therapist, she works with individuals, couples, and families, helping them deal with relational issues and stressful situations to help improve their focus on life tasks. Developing strategies to help individuals obtain personal success during social and emotional distress is the core of her work and what she finds most rewarding. Her specialized interests and experience include working with individuals:

• Employed in the creative industries (i.e., music, sports, and entertainment)
• Dealing with employment-related matters, including employee assistance programs
• Addressing concerns related to body image, sex, and sexuality
• Diagnosed with or suspected of having mental illnesses
• Who identify as LGBTQ+
• Court/justice-impacted individuals and their families

In addition to her clinical work, Toi offers keynote talks, professional development workshops, and course instruction with the Office of Continuing Education at the Rutgers School of Social Work in New Jersey.
