Curious Vocalists Podcast Spotlights MITC’s Jessica Quiñones

Discussing ways to heal from burnout, perfectionism, and unhealthy boundaries in the Music Industry.

Collective clinician and classically-trained musician, Jessica Quiñones (PhD, PGDip, UKCP) joined Curious Vocalist Podcast host Grace Hancock to explore coping tools and strategies to help music industry professionals heal from burnout, perfectionism, and unhealthy boundaries.

“I think the core essence is thinking about, ‘How can I claim music again? How can I claim it in a way that’s not an externally-validated source, but something that I actually want to do? And if so, what is that going to look like?’ Because the relationship will need to change, probably quite profoundly.” – Jessica Quiñones

Jessica also shared the importance of setting boundaries with your art, especially after burnout:

“It’s not about giving it up, but it’s about deciding something – the relationship has to look different… It’s still a relationship, with new understandings of how to be together.”
