It’s Time to Talk: Making an Impact in India’s Music Industry

MITC’s Kripi Malviya support India’s music industry professionals through innovative and impactful new study.

Kripi Malviya (M.Sc. ICAP II) is a valued member of MITC, as well as a renowned Existential Psychotherapist and Advocate with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology and International Certification in Addiction Counseling and Training. She has partnered with Dr. George Musgrave and the Global Music Institute to study the lives of musicians and music industry professionals based in India in a first-of-its-kind project: It’s Time to Talk.

This ground-breaking research will examine the impact of industry stressors (i.e. financial insecurity, rejection, high-pressure environments) on professionals’ mental health in hopes of creating institutionalized support and systemic change.

“We need data in South Asia and in India. There is none that is specific to the music industry and mental health. Off of the scaffolding of [an MITC call] I was able to get in touch with [Dr. George Musgrave]… and then being able to steamroll into collaborating with local organization, the Global Music Institute. It’s been an incremental snowballing of intent, effort, and urgency.” – Kripi Malviya

While they will be closing their initial data-collection survey on March 31, 2026, there will be more to share as the study progresses. You can stay informed on the study’s webpage:
