Joining MITC

Information for practitioners interested in becoming a Music Industry Therapist

MITC members are specialist music industry psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists and psychoanalysts with expertise relating to the mental health and wellbeing of musicians and music industry professionals.

To join MITC you’ll need to:

  • Be fully qualified, insured, and a registered member of a recognised membership body.
  • Have a music industry background (having worked at professional level in performance, music industry, live sector, media etc) and/or significant experience of working with musicians and those in the music industry.
  • Demonstrate that you work ethically and with integrity – representing your skills and training accurately, striving for culturally sensitivity (being aware that different demographic groups face differing stressors within the music business and in wider society), maintaining confidentiality and working within therapeutic boundaries, avoiding dual relationships with clients, having an awareness of your own needs, limitations and blind spots and engaging in regular supervision.

At present MITC is not open to trainee therapists, and cannot offer individual mentorship or placements for trainees.
