Heather Ferguson

Psychotherapist / psychoanalyst (LCSW)

About me

I am a licensed clinical social worker, individual and group psychoanalyst, clinical hypnotherapist, and trained EMDR practitioner working in private practice for over 20 years in NYC. I offer remote and in-person therapy and teach at a number of NYC psychoanalytic institutes.

My background

I have played in NYC rock bands for over 20 years and studied formally at the Collective School of Music in NYC. I have consulted on various creative issues at the Collective, the American Ballet Theatre pre-professional program, and other settings with musicians, dancers, and artists. I have treated original music groups on managing band dynamics, and my training in clinical hypnosis has helped me consult on stage fright and social anxiety.

Working with me

Trained as a relational psychoanalyst, I believe in a collaborative relationship directed by the patient’s needs and wishes. I focus on empathic attunement and understanding of one’s complex lived experience.
